“Some wines make a statement, and in this vintage, the Garzini Petite Sirah speaks loudly and with more than just a bit of quiet confidence. Indio blue-black in the glass, the no doubt about it aromas and flavors of black fruit such as blackberry, blueberry and black currants join and mingle with cassis and black cherry. Baker’s chocolate is recognizable, along with nutmeg and allspice. In the mouth, the wine is rich, plush, big and powerful, with a structured acid backbone and soft, silky tannins that coat and linger as long as a fiery preacher’s sermon on Sunday morning. It would be a shame to wait, but if you must, this is an ager, with the potential to develop to even greater glory over the next few years. An elegant but bold pairing with an array of dishes, standing well alongside hearty dishes such as Osso Bucco, roasted venison, filling cassoulets and richly sauced pastas. Feeling adventurous? Try strong blue cheeses on molten chocolate lava cake.” Randle Johnson, Winemaker
